EFCC ARRESTS TWO CHINESE FOR ALLEGEDLY OFFERING BRIBES TO OFFICIAL

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has arrested two Chinese nationals who allegedly offered the sum of fifty million naira gratification to an official of the anti graft agency, Abdulahi Lawal.

 

The two Chinese worked for a construction company handling road projects and solar energy in Zamfara state.

 

Men Wei Kun and Xu Koi were arrested on Monday in Sokoto by operatives of the EFCC.

 

The commission has been investigating the Chinese company said to be handling projects worth N50,000,000.000 (fifty billion naira) in Zamfara from 2012 to 2019.

 

The zonal office is investigating the execution of the contract awarded by the state government to Zhongao Nig. Ltd. for roads and 168 solar powered boreholes in 14 LGA’s in Zamfara state.

The duo were said to have tried to compromise the investigation by making cash offer of fifty mllion naira to the official.
