I AM UNDER HOUSE ARREST” – IMPEACHED DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF KOGI CRIES OUT
The impeached Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, says he is currently under house arrest. He declared this allegation via a telephone interview with the Africa Independent Television AIT in one of its political programmes, Democracy Today.
He said fully armed security men in there numbers, stormed his residence in Lokoja, and surrounded the area barring, him from going out or allowing any one come in. Police are yet to confirm the allegation.
The former deputy governor was impeached earlier this Friday over alleged acts of gross misconduct. Sources claim that this development, has caused panic within the former deputy governor’s area. According to Achuba, “As I speak to you, I am under house arrest. My security aide has been withdrawn. Currently in my house, security operatives from government house have taken over my residence. Nobody can come in and no body can go out.”
Achuba has also described his purported removal as Kogi State Deputy Governor as an exercise in futility and cannot stand, saying Nigeria is not a Banana republic, hence the action exhibited by the Kogi State House of Assembly is a rape of democracy and would not stand.
