SUN NEWSPAPER REPORTER PUSHED OUT OF ABIA GOVERNMENT HOUSE
Reporter of Sun newspapers in Umuahia, Mr. Chuks Onuoha was on Monday pushed out of the conference centre of the Deputy Governor of Abia state, Rt. Hon. Udeh Oko- Chukwu by an over zealous aide.
Mr. Onuoha had gone to cover the inauguration of the joint negotiating council for the clearance of unpaid workers’ salaries in the state on invitation by the leaders of organised Labour headed by Comrade Uchenna Obigwe.
But shortly after Mr. Onuoha’s arrival at the conference hall while waiting for the exercise to begin, one of the deputy governor’s aides on sighting him, walked to him to question his presence at the venue.
According to Mr. Chuks in a telephone chat, ” I explained to him that I was there on the invitation of the NLC chairman to give media coverage to the program, but he ordered me to leave, not even the intervention of his colleagues could make him stop as he pushed me out of the place.”
“On getting down to the reception, one of the staff of the office of the deputy governor wanted to confront the guy, but I stopped him and told him that I will jut leave. ”
It is still not clear the reasons for the present action, it might however not be unconnected with the political war of the publisher of The Sun Newspapers, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and the deputy governor who had a tough battle of who will control the zone politically in the last election.
This will not be the first time Mr. Onuoha will be sent out of Government house in Umuahia, the first being during the regime of Theodore Orji, but it is definitely the first it will be done in such a manner.
