“YOU ARE NOT THE MOST QUALIFIED” – IKPEAZU TELLS TC CHAIRMEN, COMMISSIONER.
Chinwe Ugele, Umuahia.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, has sworn in John Okiyi Kalu as commissioner for Information and Strategy following his confirmation by the Abia House of Assembly.
Also sworn in are the transition chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.
The transition Committee chairmen were re appointed on the 15th of June by the governor.
The governor while giving his charge to the commissioner and chairmen, pointed out that the reason for their appointments was to give them the opportunity to provide more service to the state in their various capacities.
He said their “diligence and commitment to service” were the qualities that necessitated the recall.
According to him, the appointees are not the only or most qualified persons from their areas, but their previous service in their L.G.A.’s informed their re appointment.
Ikpeazu, who observed that the TC chairmen were first appointed during the electioneering campaign, encouraged them to work harmoniously with the leaders in the different communities within their councils.
He said the traditional rulers, youth leaders and women leaders must at all times be on the same page with the TC chairmen.
The governor warned that his administration will not hesitate to sack any appointee that fails to work in tandem with the policies of his administration which hinged on zero tolerance for corruption.
He further advised the chairmen to desist from being insensitive to the plight of the masses.
In their separate votes of thanks, the commissioner for Information and Strategy, John Okiyi Kalu and TC chairman for Bende LGA, P. C. Onyegbu, assured they will not disappoint the government and the people.
