Francis Joseph is a 43 years old Ogoja man who lives in Lugbogi area of Ondo West Local Government of Ondo State with his four wives and nine children.

He was said to have taken advantage of a12-year daughter of his neighbour in the neighborhood.

Joseph allegedly lured the underage girl to his house and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.

He had warned the little girl after defiling her not to tell anybody about the incident and threatened her with mysterious death if she dared to tell anyone.

A source close to the family explained that the little girl was scared to tell her parents until she started bleeding from her vagina in the middle of the night and was rushed to the hospital.

According to the source, “the 12-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital, bleeding profusely from the private part having been defiled and sexually abused, she is still in the hospital till now.”

She said her parents reported the incident at the Enuowa police station but to the chagrin of all the neighbours, Joseph had left his home before dawn when the policemen arrived.

Joseph was however intercepted at a park in Ondo town on Thursday while trying to board a bus to Lagos and was subsequently handed over to the police.

He has denied the allegation of defiling the young girl and accused the people of the community of conspiracy against him hence implicating him with the said crime. A version his victim has however failed to corroborate.

She has maintained her story that his father’s friend,Joseph, was responsible for the bleeding vagina, saying he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in his house and warned her not to inform anybody.

Moves by the family of the suspect to settle the issue peacefully with the victim’s family was rebuffed as the later demands justice.

Already, the State ministry of Women affairs, has waded into the matter to ensure that the incident is not swept under the carpet and to get justice for the victim who is currently hospitalised.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, who confirmed the incident said the case had been transferred to the State police headquarters in Akure, the state capital.

He said the command has commenced an investigation into the matter and assured that the suspect will be prosecuted at the conclusion of investigations.
