The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic party in Abia state, Hon. Blessing Nwagba has said that at no time did she contemplate stepping down for anyone more so the incumbent governor Okezie Ikpeazu who she considers not so capable to occupy the office of the governor.
Nwagba who is the current House of Assembly member representing Aba North state constituency in the state House of Assembly, restated her commitment to her goal.
In her words, “I am in the race to win.”
She said her tempo of her campaigns and resolve to lead the state has not reduced, describing herself as “more capable than Ikpeazu.”
The party in the state was recently dragged into controversy of adoption of the PDP candidate who is the incumbent governor even when it has a candidate that has not indicated that she wanted to withdraw from the race.
The state chairman of the party, Hon. Chidi Nwosu at a press conference at the party secretariat in Umuahia, said the 17 LG party chairmen in the state ” placed their interest above and higher than interest of Abians by considering financial gains from other political party against the interest of our party. ”
He said the chairmen involved in the act have therefore been sanctioned by the party, adding that a seven man disciplinary committee has been set up to investigate the actions of the LG chairmen.
“That in the light of the above, the expanded SWC and in consultation with the national has suspended the chairmen,” he said.
He also announced the expulsion of one Mr. Chuks Abengowe for allegedly impersonating the Organising Secretary.
