NIGERIA DECIDES: NATIONAL PEACE COMMITTEE MOVES TO STOP ATIKU FROM SEEKING REDRESS IN COURT.
Members of the National Peace Committee are currently in a meeting with the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and some members of his campaign team in Abuja to likely convince him and the party to jettison their plan to seek redress legally.
The Committee led by a former military Head of State and its chairman, Abdulsalami Abubakar , also had in attendance the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah, Cardinal John Onaiyekan, and Rev. Fr Atta Barkindo of the NPC Secretariat.
The PDP’s vice presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, Senate President Bukola Saraki, National chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, among other PDP leaders are also in attendance.
The meeting began around 6:00pm, Thursday at the instance of the Committee on the outcome of the Saturday’s presidential election.
This meeting may not be unconnected with the decision by the PDP and its candidate to challenge the outcome of the polls at the tribunals.
