BOKO HARAM: THE NIGERIAN ARMY KILLS 5 TERRORISTS.
THE Nigerian Army on Saturday the 16th of February, 2019, shot dead some five members of the terrorist Boko Haram group in Gujba local government Area of Yobe state.
The terrorists were said to have stormed the military base at Buni Yadi about 6.05pm Saturday on a day the national elections were originally meant to hold in the country apparently on an ambush mission or to steal weapons belonging to the soldiers, but were over powered by the soldiers who successfully decimated their operation.
The spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Colonel Sagir Musa confirmed in a statement that the terrorists appeared prepared for the attack as they approached the military location with 4 gun trucks, I mine Resistant Ambush Protection, I MOWAC and assorted arms an ammunition.
He said they ran out of luck as they suffered heavy losses, with five of their members killed instantly by the soldiers, 9xAk47 rifles, 1x Anti-Air -craft gun, 121 ROUNDS OF 12.7MM Anti-Aircraft ammunition, 2x 36 hand grenades, 295 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4x improvised Explosive (IED) device, 1xIED cylinder, 1xRPG bomb, 1xRPG charger, 1x gun truck and 1x Bajaj motorcycle were recovered.
According to him the Nigerian Army on its part had 5 of its soldiers injured in the process, adding they are currently receiving treatment in the Brigade Field Ambulance with their conditions stable.
He also conveyed the appreciation of the Chief of army Staff, Lieutenant General Turkur Buratai who has commended the successes recorded recently by the troops in various operational arenas especially in the North East.
He urged the personnel to remain resolute, alert and decisive as well as professional in the discharge of onerous national assignment.
The Nigerian Army also extended its appreciations to the public for volunteering information that led to the successful abortion of deliberate attacks on the troops in Buni Yadi.
