POLICE ARREST FOUR OFFICERS FOR ROBBERY IN LAGOS.
In a seeming sustained effort to rid the force of “bad eggs”, the Lagos State police command has arrested four of its men for allegedly robbing one Theodore Ifunanya of 350,000 CFA (N221,508).
The robbery victim was said to have had a terrible experience in the hands of the officers, who upon realizing he was a Nigerian based in Togo searched him and found the sum on him.
NAN gathered that the victim was coming from Togo to celebrate Christmas in Nigeria when he was accosted at Iyana-Ira Badagry on December 17.
The suspects were alleged to have bundled him into their patrol vehicle to Ijanikin police station where they seized his money and invited a bureau de change operator who exchanged the CFA currency into n Naira equivalent.
Convinced that they had subdued the victim with a threat, the cops released him and gave him only N2000 out of the whole money, just to help him locate his Lagos residence.
It was further learnt that the victim after regaining freedom from his police captors, told his family all he went through which led to a complaint to Area K commander, ACP Hope Okafor.
ACP Okafor’s intervention saw to the arrest of the 4 officers for interrogations, and also the recovery of the stolen money.
