CONFRONT CONTEMPORARY SECURITY CHALLENGES WITH PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ALERTNESS – GOC.
The overall fitness of body and mind of soldiers is an aspect of the military routine which must be strictly adhered to for the effective task of combating crimes and securing the nation.
The 82 Division of the Nigerian Army recently conducted a 15 kilometres route march in the coal city of Enugu in the early hours of Friday the 7th of December 2018.
The march took the soldiers from Abakpa catonemnt, through Okpara Avenue, via Ebeano tunnel, Artisan market, Ogui junction and back to the cantonment.
This exercise is a monthly route march introduced by the Chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai aimed at ensuring that the Army personnel should be fit physically and also mentally sound to enable them face the contemporary and emerging security challenges facing the nation.
The Deputy Director, Public Relations of the 82 Division, Col. Sagir Musa, said in a statement that “the 82 Division has successfully carried out the end of the year route march in Enugu which was led by the General Officer Commanding the Division, Major General Emmanuel Kabuk.”
The GOC while addressing the troop, advised them to take seriously the fitness programme as directed by the COAS.
There were a total of 240 soldiers and 55 officers that participated in the exercise, with 25 corps members of the Division who willingly took part in the march.
