Events of the recent times have shown that the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) may not field candidates for respective positions in some states.

Judicial pronouncements and disobedience to court orders by the leadership of the party have necessitated the logjam currently witnessed in the affected states.

The enormity of the crises of the party was made manifest immediately after the primaries where standard bearers emerged from various states across the nation.

Even though the party had announced the use of direct primaries to elect their candidates, it was clear that the process in some states was rather shrouded in conflicts as the party either at the state level in connivance with the set committees decided who made the list without actual voting.

There were complaints and disappointments from virtually every quarter, except those who were favoured by the decision. The national chairman of the party and his working committee remained adamant and blind to court rulings and the sentiments expressed by the party faithful in most of the states.

The case of Rivers state was an avoidable error which only required the leadership of the party to pay heed to the court judgments or rulings and act on them as quickly as possible. The stubbornness exhibited by the party was insensible knowing that they had limited time to effect any corrections.

It had to take Comrade Adams Oshiomole weeks, in fact hours to the end of submission of names to the Independent National Electoral Commission to realize that the order of the court on that state should be obeyed.

The case of Imo state is also another learned lesson to Oshiomole one should think, his initial position on the governorship primaries would not only have been disastrous for the party , but would have equally denied it room to field a governorship candidate in the state.

His later positions on these two states one may argue are after thoughts that came quite late with consequencies.

In Zamfara state, the APC was rather napping and felt it had everything going for it, hence will relax and take their time in conducting their contentious primary elections, this has landed them into yet another legal tussle since the electoral umpire insists it would not accept any candidate’s list from the party for the state.

Abia state still has a legal tussle pending in the court to determine the authentic EXCO of the party in the state, given that the national secretariat of the party completely ignored and disregarded a court order on the issue in the past.

Without pre-empting the court, the fate of APC in Abia also hangs in the balance since all the candidates were picked from one faction which the court had described as ilegitimate.

In politics, everything is not about being loquacious, or violent, there are times when one needs simple wit, calm, understanding of situations and courage to solve problems that seem so insurmountable.

The build up to the elections is a huge lesson to Adams Oshiomole, who must understand the peculiarities of the various states and their local politics and try to play the game according to the idiosyncrasies and preferences of the people.
