RAPE: GOVERNOR’S WIFE WADES IN, CP ORDERS TRANSFER OF RAPE CASE OF FIVE YEAR OLD GIRL IN ABA TO SPECIAL TEAM

Respite came the way of the woman whose raped five year old daughter could not get justice at a police station in Aba and was filmed crying for help.
The video went viral last weekend and several efforts made by various groups finally yielded results when the woman was located by a coalition of Rights group in conjunction with the Vicar Hope foundation.
The coalition rights group is made up of international federation of women lawyers, Abia State ministry of women Affairs etc.
Consequently, the team from Vicar Hope foundation led by Raymond Ukwa and commissioner women affairs led the woman to the commissioner of police’ office Janet Agbede who ordered for the immediate transfer of the case to the state CID for expedited investigation.
She has also summoned the DPO in charge of that division to her office.
In the meantime, the wife of the governor, Nkechi Ikpeazu has paid for a temporary accommodation for the woman and her family and has promised to foot the bills for the treatment of the violated girl.
However, the name of the police officer said to have been accused of letting the culprit off the hook is yet to be known same with the culprit himself.
